Nesbit, Mustello Announce State Grant for Cherry Township Project
11/13/2019
HARRISBURG – Reps. Tedd Nesbit (R-Butler/Mercer) and Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today announced the awarding of $1 million in state funding to reconstruct Harrisville Road in Cherry Township, Butler County.

Specifically, the grant, which was made available through the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program, will be used to reconstruct three miles of Harrisville Road. The road needs reconstructing due to deterioration and erosion from extensive use and flooding.

The project consists of widening and reconstructing the road, underdrainage on both sides of the road, cleaning the existing roadside ditches, installation of new cross culverts and reconstructing the interaction of Harrisville Road and Pleasant Valley Road to improve the turning radius.

The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.

“This is great news for our district and surrounding communities,” said Nesbit. “I was happy to advocate for this funding and look forward to its completion.”

“I’m happy the CFA recognized the value of this project, and I was happy to support it,” said Mustello. “The Harrisville Road project will improve safety of this road and help to remediate flood waters, landslides and erosions. Improved roads will help to boost the economic development prospects in the northern Butler County region.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to state residents.
